Gap Year Scholarship -Art History Abroad

Date added: Tuesday 9th January 2018

Trying to fund a gap year? Here are some figures which might help.

£3,975 … the worth of our scholarship

If you’re looking for scholarships and bursaries to help fund your gap year, check out The Art History Abroad Scholarship for a place on one of our 2-week summer courses, worth £ 3,975*, which you can also use against the cost of our 6-week and 12-week gap year and semester courses.

16 – 19 … is the age you have to be to enter

You don’t need to have studied Art History; anyone aged between 16 and 19 on the deadline day, 5th March 2018, can enter, regardless of what they’re studying. In fact we invite an imaginative, though not necessarily art historical, response.

800 … is number of words you need to write

You need to write two 400-word essays. One on an artwork you love and one on an artwork you loathe. From the Mona Lisa to Banksy, Michelangelo’s David to The Shard, you can write about anything you want provided you use good and daring arguments to support your assertions!

5 … stars is how we are reviewed

Our courses get 5* reviews on gooverseas.com and we’ve been running this valuable scholarship since 1998. It is administered by The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS). Read the full Guidance Notes on our Scholarship page before you apply.

“I had never imagined that as a maths guy, I would ever get to experience all the things I have over the last fortnight. It has opened my mind to a new way of thinking and it is like I’ve been given a different pair of eyes. I only wish it could have gone on forever.”

James, 2016 scholarship winner, took Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level, now at Bristol University

“…The generous prize of a place on the Northern Italy course ended up being two of the most exciting weeks of not just learning, but fun, imaginable… we all left as friends bonded by the truly unforgettable experience we shared in Italy while learning from the brilliant, engaging and knowledgeable tutors in an intellectually and socially stimulating environment… My only regret is that the course was not longer!”
